Information Management Lead at Red Cross
Thank you for those reflections, and for sharing the parallels with Finnish Red Cross - Suomen Punainen Risti's work Matias Andersson. At the core, we are trying to answer questions disaster managers have always asked: - What is happening? - Who is most in need of assistance? - What can we learn from past operations and from across the network? The past year has not been easy. The feeding of USAID to the woodchipper, combined with the departure of our project lead Justin Ginnetti to Google, could easily have stalled the initiative. Instead, thanks to the support of the European Space Agency - ESA, we are starting to rebuild momentum. What makes this possible is the team behind: - Emmanuel Mathot, Felix Delattre, and Will Rynearson (Development Seed) laying the foundations - Subina Sharma, Ankit Mehta et al from Togglecorp building the pipelines; - ARUN GANDHI developing practical “cookbooks” to help users work with the data https://lnkd.in/dHhjTt6g - Daniel Soares bringing in MapAction’s frontline IM experience to shape real-world use cases - And soon, Arnau Rovira Muntada (Danish Red Cross) joining to help coordinate the initiative and connect it back to field realities This is, by design, an open and collaborative effort. If these are questions you are also asking, let's try and answer them together.
