I am pleased to share this recent interview published in LCGC International, where Dr. Antonio Ferracane talk about his oral contribution at American Society For Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) 2026 related to an innovative GC–MS-based approach to enhance sensitivity in the determination of trace polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The work highlights how the optimization of acquisition strategies and signal processing can significantly improve the detection of environmental contaminants at ultra-trace levels—an aspect of great relevance for both research and regulatory applications. This contribution reflects the broader commitment of our research group to the development of advanced methodologies in chromatography and mass spectrometry, with a strong focus on improving analytical performance in terms of sensitivity and selectivity. My sincere thanks to all those who contributed, Dr. Alessia Arena, Professor Mariosimone Zoccali, and Professor Peter Tranchida, for their excellent work, and to LCGC for providing the opportunity to showcase these results.
