One man eats too many peas and dies. His friend hears the news and dies too. A wife falls off a cupboard, the children drown, the grandmother drinks herself to ruin. On it goes, one small catastrophe after another, reported in the same flat voice. All good people. None of them could stay on their feet. Here's a new short called EVENTS, adapted from a 1936 miniature by the Russian absurdist Daniil Kharms, a writer who could list the death of an entire town with the calm of a man reading a grocery receipt.
