Great to see our Director of Landscape Architecture, Jennette Emery-Wallis FLI, speaking at the Why Sports Green Goals 2026 Conference (Why Sports Media Group Limited) in Manchester last week. The event brought together a diverse range of experts to explore the connections between climate resilience, health, nature and participation. The event highlighted the importance of preparing for a changing climate, improving access to green space, and harnessing the power of sport and physical activity to support healthier and more sustainable communities. As part of the programme, Jennette shared LUC's involvement in the AELTC Wimbledon Park Project, demonstrating how landscape-led design can help maximise benefits for People, Place & Nature. Key takeaways: 🌍 Climate projections suggest we need to plan for 2°C warming by 2050 and 4°C by 2100, with increasing risks from overheating, flooding, drought and wildfires. 🌳 Good access to green space could save the NHS an estimated £2.1 billion per year in health costs. 🏃 Green prescribing initiatives are showing how sport, physical activity and nature can work together to improve health and wellbeing. Events like this highlight the unique opportunity for sport and physical activity to drive positive outcomes for both people and the environment. #GreenGoals2026 #SustainabilityInSport #LandscapeArchitecture #ClimateAction #HealthAndWellbeing #NatureRecovery #Sportsgreengoals2026
