❓ Can the ratio of cardiac troponin I to cardiac troponin T help improve the differentiation between various types of myocardial injury? 🤝 After a long journey that began with the first idea in 2018, this project has evolved into a truly unique collaboration between clinical research and basic science, including 9,704 participants across 3 prospective clinical studies, internal and external validation, and experimental cardiomyocyte models. 🔎 We found that the cTnI/cTnT ratio differs substantially according to the type and severity of myocardial injury and improves discrimination between type 1 and type 2 myocardial infarction. 📘 Excited to see these findings now published in JACC and discussed in an accompanying editorial. 👏 Special thanks to Dr Tobias Zimmermann for leading this project, and congratulations and thanks to all co-authors!
