Artiste visuel. La conscience est l’essence de l’être, nous cocréons tous les possibles.
Muriel, or Time regained In the winter of 2025, I moved paintings, sketches, and photographs around the studio — they were waiting for a better life elsewhere! — hoping that, in this joyful commotion, some new inspiration would surface from the depths of the unconscious. The idea of creating a series of dreamlike digital paintings then became an obvious path. I would open the door — and there they were! Fleeting images rising like angels, gliding through a dimly lit room, leaving only a trail of light. One of them could be a trapeze artist. I love her radiant headdress, her richly coloured coat, evoking the world of the circus. I love impossible stories. Muriel, Marion… This takes me back to Wim Wenders' magnificent film Wings of Desire (1987, co-written with Peter Handke). In its first part, the world unfolds in black and white, through the silent gaze of angels. Every hope and sorrow floats, suspended in the air.The angel Damiel (Bruno Ganz) falls in love with Marion (Solveig Dommartin), a solitary trapeze artist, and chooses to abandon eternity to embrace human life. At that moment, the film bursts into vivid colours — like a heart beginning to beat for the very first time... In this great circus of life, let’s wager: what if Marion were the angel perched under the big top, and Damiel the man below, unable to sense her presence? Would she surrender her wings for him, or could he learn to feel the tremor of life? This existential question drifts through me like a breath of nostalgia. An echo resonates: Muriel, or the Time of a Return, by Alain Resnais, where Delphine Seyrig shines — the unforgettable star of Last Year at Marienbad. Two journeys beyond time and memory, subtly intertwining in my imagination. Today, I invite you to discover After the Rainbow, a video created by Maia Sylba. The journey unfolds slowly, carried by a pulsing music like a heartbeat. At first, heavy textures emerge — the opaque world. Then, almost imperceptibly, the angels begin to move, invisible. We perceive matter before we recognize the light it conceals. And then Muriel reveals herself: a silent messenger, guiding you from winter’s grey toward the recovered brilliance of the rainbow. © Luc Martineau 2025
