Between 2003 and 2009, only about half of all students who began college as STEM majors continued in the field. LSU experts saw a path to bridging this gap. A recent study by experts in the LSU College of Science and the LSU Communication across the Curriculum program explores the impact of a first-year seminar course designed to introduce students to role models, mentors, science communication, and other skills and resources needed to become scientists.
