Truckload costs are climbing and capacity is tightening and the shippers paying attention are already moving freight back to rail. According to SONAR and Ryder's monthly market report, tender rejections hit 14.3% earlier this year, up from around 5% for most of the past two years. Industry forecasts are projecting truckload costs 10-15% higher than 2025, with spot-exposed freight taking the worst of it.
