At the heart of the roundtable was one defining question: The roundtable opened at BLOX in Copenhagen, where we explored the transformation of the waterfront, the integrated parking concept beneath the building and the automated parking process reducing the visible footprint of vehicle storage. The evening continued at BLOXHUB, where urban experts exchanged perspectives on urban innovation, international collaboration and cross-sector partnerships. The following day in Aarhus opened with a first look at the upcoming White Paper "Urban Futures in Transition". The conversation then moved from strategy to implementation with a guided tour of DOKK1, home to Europe's largest automated parking system. Developed and delivered by Lรถdige Industries, the facility has handled nearly 3 million parking operations, demonstrating how mobility can be accommodated in dense urban environments. Beneath one of Aarhus' most vibrant public spaces, vehicles are stored underground while the surface above is dedicated to people, public life, cycling and waterfront activities. DOKK1 shows that accommodating mobility and creating more public space are not mutually exclusive. The most valuable insights did not come from showcasing projects. They came from openly discussing the difficult political, spatial and practical trade-offs that cities face every day. A sincere thank you to all city representatives, urban planners and mobility experts for their openness, expertise and willingness to engage in a honest discussion, and to BABLE Smart Cities for creating a platform for meaningful exchange. This roundtable marks the beginning. Over the coming weeks, we'll share the key insights, perspectives and ideas that emerged from these discussions, and continue the conversation on the future of urban space.
