This weekend, our nation will celebrate its 250th birthday. I’m reminded that America’s greatest achievement isn’t simply that it declared independence in 1776 - it’s that we've remained committed to the rule of law. For 250 years, our Constitution, our courts, and our legal system have transformed disagreements into dialogue, conflicts into resolutions, and individual rights into enduring freedoms. Few nations have attempted such an ambitious experiment in self-government. Even fewer have sustained it for nearly two and a half centuries. With the experience of a New York divorce and family law attorney, I see every day how the law serves people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Divorce, custody disputes, support matters, and the equitable distribution of assets are deeply personal issues. Yet our legal system provides a framework that allows families to resolve these disputes through fairness, due process, and respect for individual rights—not through intimidation or force. As we gather with friends, family and neighbors to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, let’s also celebrate the enduring principles that have made this nation one of history’s most enduring social and political experiments in self-government: justice and equality under the law. Happy 250th Birthday, America. Here’s to preserving the rule of law for generations yet to come. #America250 #RuleOfLaw #FamilyLaw #DivorceAttorney #NewYorkAttorney #Justice #Constitution #LegalProfession #Liberty Wisselman Harounian Family Law Jacqueline Harounian, Esq.
