LR was delighted to welcome the co-founders of Greek maritime publication nafs, Panos Doukas and Nikos Doukas, to our London headquarters earlier this week. During their visit, they explored a selection of Greek maritime archives, including the first listing of Christina O, Aristotle Onassis' yacht, in the 1954 Register of Yachts; survey material for Tina Onassis, one of the world's first supertankers completed in 1959; and paperwork from the first LR Greek Committee meeting in 1960. Accompanied by photographer Dionisios Paterakis, they interviewed LR Chief Operations Officer Mark Darley and Dr Tim Slingsby, Director of Skills and Education at the Lloyd's Register Foundation, before enjoying a tour of the building led by Luca Rapisarda from the Lloyd's Register Foundation Heritage Centre. It was a pleasure to share the rich history of our longstanding relationship with the Greek shipping community and the role it has played in shaping the maritime industry over many decades. #GreekShipping #MaritimeHistory
