At the recent Liveable Cities Lab on Energy: Transition to Renewables, Makati City Engineer George William Casing Hong showcased the city's breakthrough "Yes, Ma'am" strategy that led to them becoming the first local government unit in the Philippines to champion 100% renewable energy. Under this multi-year initiative, the city is successfully leveraging the Retail Aggregation Program to consolidate over 150 local facilities—such as schools, barangay halls, and streetlights—into a unified 10-megawatt clean energy load. This strategic transition is projected to prevent 300,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and save the city more than 300 Million Pesos over the contract's lifetime, while simultaneously integrating electric vehicle charging stations to advance clean mobility. This Liveable Cities Lab is in partnership with Ayala Corporation, Globe Business, and League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP). #LiveableCitiesPH #LiveableCitiesLab #Energy #RenewableEnergy
