A few weeks ago, one of our own team experienced a severe and completely unexpected anaphylactic reaction. Sharon Marsh, our Events Manager, had never had anything like this happen before. Very quickly, her hands began to itch, her lips and face started to swell, and her tongue and airways were affected. It became a life-threatening situation within minutes. Thankfully, an ambulance was called straight away and paramedics were able to administer adrenaline quickly. Sharon is now recovering, and now carries adrenaline auto-injectors with her in case it ever happens again. It was frightening. It was also a very clear reminder. Most of us think things like this happen to other people, until they happen to someone we know. As a people-first organisation, we wanted to do something practical that could help others feel more confident if they ever found themselves in a similar situation. So weโre offering free 1-hour Anaphylaxis Awareness sessions, covering how to recognise the signs of anaphylaxis and understand the use of adrenaline auto-injectors, often known as EpiPens. The sessions will be delivered by Paul Kitchen Assoc CIPD, our Head of Learning and Development, who is a certified First Aid Instructor and has worked as a first responder. ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐: ยทย ย ย ย Friday 7 August, 10am to 11am ยทย ย ย ย Monday 14 September, 10am to 11am ยทย ย ย ย Friday 2 October, 2pm to 3pm ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป-๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป at Live and Learn Consultancy HQ (Sheffield): ยทย ย ย ย Tuesday 22 September, 10am to 11am (Limited to 18 places) This is not a certified First Aid course, but it is a practical awareness session that could help someone recognise the signs and act quickly. We hope you never need it. But if you do, knowing what to look for could make all the difference. #AnaphylaxisAwareness #FirstAidAwareness #HealthAndSafety #WorkplaceWellbeing #LearningForLife #AllergyAwareness #AdrenalineAutoInjector #SaveALife #WorkplaceSafety #EpiPen #FreeWebinar
