Former Sundowns Captain Wayne Arendse made his big transfer from Santos to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2012, recruited by Barcelona and Dutch legend Johan Neeskens. Wayne is arguably one of the longest serving players at Chloorkop. Since joining the Brazilians, he went on to become one of the key figures and his contributions to the team never went unnoticed as he was a CAF nominee for Best Defender in the 2016 Champions League winning season. His omission from the various Bafana teams till today remains a mystery. Wayne went on to make 170 appearances for Sundowns, winning five PSL league titles, the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup. Added to his defensive prowess Wayne scored 15 goals as a centre back in his career.
