Project spotlight | Suburban Rail Loop – Tunnel Boring Machines We’re excited to be supporting the delivery of Tunnel Boring Machines for the Suburban Rail Loop in Melbourne - a city-shaping infrastructure project commissioned by the Victorian State Government. The machines are being discharged at BlueScope’s Western Port berth in Hastings, where LINX is managing the discharge and handling of these mammoth components on behalf of GEODIS and CREG Australia. Once assembled, each TBM will measure approximately 120 metres long and over 7 metres in diameter, weigh more than 1,000 tonnes, and be powered by 100% renewable electricity. The project includes 7 vessel calls into Hastings through 2026, with final deliveries expected by January 2027. A special acknowledgement to BlueScope, whose support has been critical in enabling these operations at Hastings - a great example of the strong partnerships that underpin complex port operations. Landside transport is being provided by Doolan's Heavy Haulage, who we’ve worked closely with throughout discharge operations, alongside shipping partners AAL Shipping, Swire Shipping and COSCO SHIPPING OCEANIA PTY LTD. LINX is proud to play a role in delivering the infrastructure that will shape Melbourne’s future, and to be part of a project with such lasting impact.
