How do you work with colleagues in different time zones? Professionals in international firms often have to join meetings outside regular working hours – late at night or early in the morning. This can create a lose-lose situation: those who compromise on sleep experience fatigue, while those who skip such meetings risk reduced visibility or uneven participation in decision-making, reports Hong Yi Tay in The Straits Times. https://lnkd.in/dK6yk-xW ManpowerGroup Singapore country manager Linda T. says both employees and leaders play a role in managing such challenges. “For example, rotating meeting times across time zones helps distribute after-hours commitments more fairly, ensuring that no single group consistently bears the burden of inconvenient scheduling,” she suggests. Meanwhile, Annie Kok, project manager at strategic human resources consultancy DecodeHR, says meetings across time zones should remain the exception. She advises professionals to be more selective about the meetings they attend outside of their time zones, and to ask for staggered work hours in order to better protect their personal time. Those who consistently have to adjust their schedule should also raise it to their manager and seek a fair resolution. 💬 What’s the best way to manage meetings across different time zones?
