๐ข Iโm thrilled to share my recent paper, "๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ถ๐๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ผ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ด๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฝ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฏ๐ผ๐ป: ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ด", available in the Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering! This paper represents a very special milestone, as it stems from my PhD research. I am grateful to share this work alongside my co-authors and supervisors, Rui Carrilho Gomes and Paula Teves-Costa, whose continuous support and guidance were fundamental to this journey. ๐กWhy is this research important? Understanding local soil behavior and seismic wave propagation is critical for urban safety. As we transition to the second generation of Eurocode 8, it is essential to update our frameworks for seismic microzonation. In this paper, we bridge the gap between academic research and practical engineering by: ๐บ๏ธ Developing a new, comprehensive H800 map tailored for the city of Lisbon. ๐ Comparing the site categorization criteria between the first and second generations of Eurocode 8. ๐๏ธ Providing actionable geospatial data that can help practitioners, civil engineers, and urban planners better assess seismic risk. Translating complex geotechnical and geophysical data into practical, decision-making tools is a crucial step in mitigating seismic risk and planning a more resilient city for the future. ๐๐๏ธ ๐ You can read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/eKiZQDF9 Springer Nature #Geophysics #Geotechnics #EarthquakeEngineering #Eurocode8 #SeismicResilience #Lisbon #UrbanPlanning #PhDResearch
