For the longest time, I believed staying quiet was safer. Not because I didn’t have ideas. But because I was afraid of being judged. Hi, I’m Lilian. Late last year, I was given the opportunity to take on a significantly bigger leadership role. While I had led teams before, this role came with a different level of responsibility and expectation. It stretched me in ways I didn’t anticipate. There were moments of uncertainty. Moments where I had to learn quickly, adapt, and lead through change, often while figuring things out as I went along. What grounded me was a simple realisation: I can’t control how others see the world. I can only stay true to my values, do the right thing, and keep learning. So I focused on what mattered, seeking guidance, checking in regularly, staying open to feedback, and leading with integrity. I’m deeply grateful for the leaders who continue to guide me, and the colleagues who support the work we do together. I’m still learning. Still growing. But I’m no longer shrinking. That’s why I’m choosing to show up and why I’m part of the #GiveToGrow Challenge. Because using our voice isn’t about being perfect. It’s about growth, courage, and contributing meaningfully. If you’re navigating growth or leadership in your own journey, I’d love to connect and learn from you too. P.S. This post is part of Ratna Juita’s 5‑day International Women’s Day challenge, encouraging women to share their growth journeys and give back through visibility. #GiveToGrow
