Brilliance or durability? Sometimes we have to choose. ⬅️➡️ When it comes to pigments in plastics, there are two main types that behave very differently. ◾Organic pigments are based on carbon compounds. They deliver high brilliance and colour strength, but are typically more transparent. However, their temperature and weather fastness varies significantly depending on the pigment, so careful assessment is needed for every application. ◾Inorganic pigments are derived primarily from mineral raw materials. They offer significantly greater thermal stability and excellent weatherfastness, but with comparatively lower colour brilliance. They are usually more opaque. The choice between organic and inorganic pigments is not just an aesthetic decision. It depends on your application, durability requirements, desired colour tone, regulatory requirements, temperature, and many other factors. Next in this series: effect and special pigments, which are platelet-shaped outliers that play by their own rules. 👉 Read our full guide of colourans for more information: https://lnkd.in/euPNXE2q
