Sometimes the biggest work is not just building a business. It is doing the work on yourself. Years ago, after losing everything through a previous business connected to shares and property, we had to take a very honest look at our lives. Not just at what had happened, but at how we thought about money, how we managed it, what we believed was possible, and the decisions that had led us to that point. When we started our online business in the personal development and leadership space, we quickly realised the business model was only one part of the equation. The bigger part was the work we had to do on ourselves. We immersed ourselves in personal development programs. We read. We listened. We learned. We questioned old beliefs. We had to become different people in the way we thought, handled pressure and made decisions. That work mattered. Because you can have a genuine opportunity in front of you, but if you bring the same old thinking and habits to it, you can easily end up repeating the same old patterns. For us, the key was the combination of: A business model that made sense. Products we were proud to represent. A reward structure that suited the effort we were prepared to put in. And a willingness to keep growing ourselves along the way. That combination helped us learn how to work smarter, not just harder.
