What a great start to the day! Over the past 1.5 years, this extensive nature risk analysis (based on the Science-Based Targets for Nature methodology) was conducted on the four most prominent building materials in the Netherlands - concrete, asphalt, steel and timber. Today, we're sharing the results. The report includes both sector-wide and material-specific recommendations. At the sector level, we call for reducing primary material use throughout the entire process, accelerating CO2 reduction in concrete, steel, and asphalt production, and ensuring responsible sourcing of materials such as sand, gravel, ore, and timber. An English translation will follow soon. Feel free to reach out to me or the team for updates! We look forward to continuing this research in close collaboration with the sector. Well done to the project team Harmen Heida, Job Papineau Salm, Lander De Visscher, and from our partners at Copper8: Sybren Bosch & Stefan Favrin.
