The UK has gone from 17% to 78% #fibre coverage in five years - faster than almost anywhere else in Europe. But the next chapter looks very different. Assembly Research has published a new report, commissioned by nexfibre, examining the financial health of the UK's altnet sector. The report's conclusion is clear: consolidation is the necessary next step. A smaller number of scaled operators, with the financial stability and #network reach to compete meaningfully at the wholesale level, would be better for consumers, better for investors, and better for the long-term health of UK #connectivity.
