Session one wrapped up at the packed out DRS Conference! This hugely popular event kicked off this morning at Cavendish Venues as Sally Waples OBE from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs opened proceedings, setting out the government's goals and priorities for the scheme as rollout approaches. Kate McFerran from Exchange for Change followed with an inside look at what the UK's official DRS operator is building ahead of the October 2027 launch. Andy Bagnall from the British Soft Drinks Association then tackled the unified vs devolved question head on - one of the most debated issues in the sector right now. Patrick Brighty of the Environmental Services Association rounded out the session with a frank assessment of what DRS means for waste management. A packed agenda, a packed room, and plenty more still to come this afternoon! Thank you to all speakers, sponsors and delegates here today. We hope you find the day insightful and see lots of familiar faces!
