Renting a camper van shouldn't be complicated but for most people, it was. No reliable way to search by real needs, no dynamic pricing for owners and zero protection on either side of the booking. That was the brief when we set out to build X Camper, a camper van rental marketplace, from the ground up. A few things we focused on: 1. Auto-location detection, so users land on relevant listings immediately 2. A filter system modeled on how people actually plan trips - group size, amenities, dates not generic search fields 3. Verified vehicle registration before any listing goes live, building trust from day one 4. End-to-end protected bookings for both renters and owners 5. Real-time in-app chat powered by WebSockets, so conversations happen instantly, without leaving the platform The bigger takeaway: a marketplace only works when both sides of the transaction feel safe and understood. Every screen we designed had to answer a real question for the traveler who wanted it simple, and the owner who just needed it to work. X Camper was designed and built by Schbang.
