Did you know? In June 2001, mining company BHP Billiton set a world record in Australia with the longest and heaviest freight train ever operated - a milestone that still stands out in freight rail history. The train consisted of: • 8 diesel electric locomotives • 682 ore wagons • A total length of 7.3 km • Carrying 82,000 tons of iron ore What made the achievement even more remarkable: All eight locomotives were radio controlled by a single driver for most of the journey. This extraordinary test run demonstrated the transformative potential of automation, efficiency, and cost optimization in long distance bulk logistics - and continues to influence innovation in freight rail operations today. https://lnkd.in/e7UDchp3 #DidYouKnow #Logistics #RailFreight #Innovation #SupplyChain #BulkTransport
