It was only 22deg today! That was in the original canal worker’s cottages part of our house, dating from the early 1800s and with walls over a foot thick 😎 -Where I have my home office, of course😉 In contrast, in the 1980s extension bit… phew 🥵 no hanging out there …there’s more insulation in your average jiffi-bag than in those walls! And in our COVID-years extension, it was bearable - louvres on the windows and a north facing veranda, battling a huge velux roof light operating like the proverbial greenhouse! 🪴 I could use it as a case study to write a PhD on the thermal properties of construction through the ages! Has anyone else been learning about their property today? My mum lives in a Devon malt house with thatch on the roof and walls wider than ours. She’s got cool air too. Air con may not always be the answer! Photo from here (not our house!): https://lnkd.in/e8pP8Xz6
