How to get "called out" by your CEO in front of 6,000 people (and keep your job) My son Jonah Ostroff recently started his first gig out of college as an SDR for Rippling. He loves it and is doing really well. He's a born seller and he's getting his reps in doing the hard work - outbounding hundreds of emails and dials a day. He gets more rejection in a day than I could handle in a month. Through it all, he stays positive and grinds every day. But recently, he had an "incident" (read more below) that no one could have seen coming. Depending on who you ask, it was either: 1. A fireable offense on the spot OR... 2. A masterclass in drive and tenacity. Much to his (and my) relief, Rippling's CEO Parker Conrad took the second approach. Calling out Jonah in front of 6,000 people during Rippling's virtual SKO. This positive response from a CEO is a testament to the culture that Parker has built. A quick side note: I’ve used Rippling before (shoutout to my time at Crisp), and it is hands down the best HR platform on the market. Now that I’m back to using an "old school" incumbent... let’s just say the pain is real. I wouldn't recommend Jonah’s "blunder" as a standard onboarding strategy for new grads, but I couldn't be prouder of the hustle. Cheers to the CEOs who celebrate the "grind" and the kids brave enough to make the big mistakes!
