Laser Focus Friday | Episode 9: Mapping the human liver — protein by protein, cell by cell How is liver function defined at the single-cell level? In Nature Metabolism, Weiss et al. apply single-cell Deep Visual Proteomics (scDVP) to generate the first high-resolution spatial proteome map of human liver tissue: 🔬 ~2,500 proteins per single hepatocyte 📍 Continuous spatial mapping along the porto–central axis 🧬 ~50% of proteins show zonated expression By combining AI-guided imaging, laser microdissection, and ultra-sensitive MS, the study reveals how spatial organization defines liver function — and how disrupted tissue architecture leads to loss of zonation. Precise single-cell isolation makes the difference. 📖 Read the study: https://fcld.ly/is2xpqb 👉 Learn how Deep Visual Proteomics works: https://fcld.ly/v5xlpiu #LaserFocusFriday #LaserMicrodissection #SpatialBiology #DeepVisualProteomics
