Leica Camera AG represented at an audience at the Vatican At the invitation of Pope Leo XIV, Leica Camera AG attended a special audience at the Vatican on 20 May 2026. Leica was represented by Andreas Voll, CEO, Alexander Sedlak, Managing Director of Leica Camera Austria GmbH/Leitz Photographica Auction and Andrea Michelangelo Pacella, VP Global Marketing & Communication. The meeting was held in connection with the charity auction of a special Leica set belonging to Pope Francis, which raised a total of 6.5 million euros. Back in 2024, Leica had presented Pope Francis with a unique Leica M-A camera fitted with a Leica Noctilux-M 1:1.2/50mm ASPH. lens in recognition of his charitable work. Both the camera and the lens had the special serial number 5.000.000. Pope Francis decided to have the Leica set auctioned off for charitable purposes. The auction was conducted in 2025 by Leitz Photographica Auction. The entire proceeds went to the Pope’s personal charity. The invitation to the Vatican recognised both the success of the auction and the shared commitment to social and humanitarian causes.
