‘It’s about connecting the dots, identifying how can we help clients that want to do business in Europe.' For A&O Shearman’s Tom Schoors, taking up the role as the firm’s first-ever EU chair was a no-brainer. ‘The reason why I accepted it is very simple,’ Schoors says, ‘it’s that this project is so close to my heart.’ He took up the newly created position in May this year after five years as Belgium managing partner. ‘Some of our clients do look at Europe as one region, and they just want to have one point of contact.
