Today I started a new role back at the University of Oxford after 20 months working for UK Research and Innovation, and I'm super excited to get going! As you know I've worked for the University before, and it's not that I didn't love the work UKRI fund or the awesome people I met along the way. (And there were so many highlights, like the trips to Geneva to support CERN's mission via STFC, or organising an exhibition of works of embroidery based on Diamond Light Source research.) But my time out made me realise the importance of fitting in with where an organisation's at, and the feeling that what you have to offer is exactly what's needed at that time, and I never really felt that there. I think that'll happen here at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Oxford, and making a small contribution towards solutions for chronic pain sufferers when you've been through the mill yourself physically is a pretty good way to spend your days! I can't wait to get cracking. For more information about EPIONE, the programme I'll be working on in support of Prof Tim Denison FREng and Ben Seymour and a host of other talented researchers, see https://lnkd.in/e2b-DzRd.
