Managing Director, Inline Design - Main contractor, MMC delivery partner, specialist subcontractor - fitout, drylining and facades | A construction industry leader with a passion for improving the built environment
The Works in East Farleigh, Kent has to be one of the most architecturally outstanding projects in our portfolio to date. As Principal Contractor, the Inline Design team took a derelict Grade II* listed Victorian boiler house and transformed it into a state-of-the-art corporate headquarters for the Chord Electronics Ltd. This restoration has preserved an important and rare example of Egyptian Revival architecture and breathed new life into the building. There were some practical challenges, which included: - Heritage compliance - A highly constrained site adjacent to the River Medway and a historic Grade I listed bridge - Developing and implementing a flood mitigation strategy - The geometry for a building of this size. We were involved project inception, working alongside Felix Lewis Architects through planning, design and delivery, with most of the work carried out by our own in-house, multi-skilled teams – from drylining, flooring, decorating and joinery to elements of the external works. This was a complex, multi-layered construction project which combined collaborative design management and a lean delivery model. The finished scheme looks fantastic and the quality of finishing is to a really high standard. Congratulations to the client on achieving their vision and to everyone involved.
