In 2025, two young members of the Dutch military passed away during training missions in Germany. Both lives that were lost could have been prevented with better safety protocols within the mission. Onderzoeksraad voor Veiligheid researched these two incidents, and I had the honors of creating visualisations to help readers to better understand each situation as they unfolded (which Nieuwsuur reproduced in their reportage last night https://nos.nl/l/2621193). While the incidents themselves were devastating and gruesome, it was a pleasure working together with the OVV researchers to create a clear, visual retelling of both situations. Of course, this project wasn't done alone: Jacqueline van Dongen as project manager, Judith de Haan as information designer who also worked on the project and Roeland Schmohl who created the social posts and the explainer video which can be found on OVV's website. https://lnkd.in/e4edYWRt
