Latham & Watkins' newly appointed Germany managing partner Dr. Alexander Stefan Rieger is betting on infrastructure, energy, and AI data centres to power the firm's next chapter in Germanyโ€”even as geopolitical turbulence clouds the broader deals market and a string of private equity partner departures tests its resolve. Rieger, who starts as managing partner today, succeeds Burc Hesse, who has held the position since 2020. Rieger's experience involves advising infrastructure funds, private equity investors, pension funds, insurance companies, and corporates on complex M&A transactions and projects in infrastructure, energy, and AI data centres. Overall, Rieger said Latham's goal is to be a trusted business partner. "We try not to be only legal advisers, but to actually also add additional value beyond pure legal advice, also in the commercial and strategic perspective, working as a 'holistic advisor'."
