HKUST | T&M-DDP (Computer Engineering + BBA + DMCA) | Class of 2029
I am happy to share that I have participated in the GDGOnCampus Hackathon @ HKUST last weekend, organized by the GDGoC HKUST! It was truly a fruitful experience. As a complete newbie to hackathons, I have only worked on personal, individual projects previously. Throughout the competition, not only have I learnt new skills and developer tools such as MongoDB, Firebase, Prisma and more, I have also understood the sweet adversity of debugging and handling branch issues on the same repository just like any software engineer would. I was also happy to be able to incorporate my studies into an actual project. I was able to use both technical tools such as coding and AI skills, but also analytical skills such as the design thinking and lean launchpad concepts, which are related to Agentic AI to create a user-first solution. Ultimately, we made a promising study platform using Agentic AI for students to upload course materials to generate review questions and a study plan. Even though we were not shortlisted, I am truly fascinated by the experience of joining a hackathon and I would not have had it any other way. I have also seen many innovative solutions during the final pitch, and I am amazed by the technical skills and creativity of my fellow contestants. A massive thank you to the organizers for hosting this event, and to my fellow teammates of ImPromptu Vincent Fong and Bernice Yau thank you for everything! It was a pleasure being able to collaborate with you and I have learnt a lot from your technical skills and work ethic!
