Future Battery Forum hot takes! Europe’s battery industry is progressing, but still slowed by fragmented funding, permitting challenges and global competition. The message across sessions: this is a marathon. Long-term policy alignment, tech transfer and workforce development are non negotiable. An interesting theme was execution. Moving from TRL 1–8 is tough and turning lab results into industrial reality requires strong partners, clear communication and realistic business models. Chemistry trends continue to shift (LFP rising, NCM steady, lithium-sulfur and sodium-ion acceleration) and scaling up requires clean data and faster learning loops to stay competitive. The panel on manufacturing was especially honest: building a battery line takes years of focus, disciplined financing, the right people, equipment mastery and rigorous control of yield and scrap. More than 300 companies in China tried and only 10–15 have made it. At the Embassy of Finland & Business Finland event, project with Chinese battery company progressing. This collaboration is their first overseas plant and again it takes time but this will strengthen a local, European supply chain. Europe has big challenges ahead but theres opportunity if we stay patient, focused and committed for the long run. The best part is always the same: deeper relationships and new connections.
