Today we signed the First Individual Guarantee Operation for Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Projects in Ecuador, an important milestone to unlock clean energy investment in the country. This initiative is expected to mobilize private investment and support renewable energy projects (solar, wind, and hydro), strengthening Ecuador’s energy security and accelerating the transition to a more resilient and diversified power system. This milestone reflects a true One IDB Group effort, bringing together policy dialogue, financial innovation, and strong collaboration with the Government of Ecuador and private investors. I want to thank colleagues across IDB, IDB Invest, IDB Invest Advisory, and the Government of Ecuador who contributed to making this possible. Your dedication, expertise, and persistence made this program a reality. The next milestone will be signing the guarantee with private sector partners to fully unlock this investment.
