Sometimes in advertising, it’s easy to get caught up in the spectacle. But as Patrick Laughlin shared during his Indie Agency News panel, "Eat, Drink, Differentiate: Surveying Standout Strategies”, the strongest campaigns still start with something more fundamental: a real idea. “When looking at work for a big campaign how do you ensure the team is building something foundational vs. a one-off gimmick? I love a good gimmick but you have to be careful. Gimmicks can masquerade as ideas. You first have to find that thing…that line, the actual idea.
