OPINION 4 am VLC // Unpacking an Illusion As I was sitting quietly here in Spain, watching detachedly from the south of the continent how the pieces are settling on the chessboard, the latest European articles and strategies on "saving" our economy caught my eye. The conclusion is of a brutal mechanics: we are heading in a completely wrong direction, trying to correct course by veering sharply into another equally wrong direction. And, in fact, it is entirely normal for it to be this way. In the architecture of large systems, any initial erroneous action does not generate correction; instead, it pulls in another equally erroneous action behind it like a kinetic magnet.
