"What does the platform do?" That's the first question most ask when exploring CPO operations. But a better question would be: what does it leave on your plate? 💡 Most CPMS platforms are software products; they hand you the tools: dashboards, tariffs, session data, but also billing, collections, disputes, non-payment risk. That's where Merchant of Record matters. Whoever holds that status carries the transaction liability. If your platform partner takes it on, collection risk sits with them. If they don't, it sits with you, whether or not anyone made that clear upfront. Two platforms can look identical in a demo. Same features, same screens. But if one leaves billing risk on your books and the other absorbs it, you're building a very different business.
