#HealthcareScienceWeek: Celebrating Neurophysiology 🌟 This Healthcare Science Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible work of our Neurophysiology team here at Royal Preston Hospital. Every day, our Consultant Neurophysiologists, Clinical Physiologists and Assistant Technical Officers use advanced technology to investigate the electrical activity of the brain, nerves, and muscles - helping diagnose, monitor, and guide treatment for a wide range of neurological conditions. 🧠 What do Neurophysiologists do? The team performs a variety of specialised tests, including: 🔵 EEGs – Recording brain activity to support the diagnosis of epilepsy and other neurological disorders. 🔵 NCS / EMG – Assessing nerve and muscle function to investigate conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and neuropathies. 🔵 Evoked Potentials – Measuring the nervous system’s response to light, sound or touch.
