The CHISEL Lab at LUMS has partnered with Allied Bank Limited to explore how robotics and Human–Robot Interaction (HRI) can transform the future of banking. The agreement was signed by Dr. Suleman Shahid, Associate Professor and Director, CHISEL Lab and Mr. Muhammad Zaman, Group Head, Digital Transformation & Innovation, Allied Bank. As part of this collaboration, Allied Bank has deployed a Pepper robot at the CHISEL Lab to design and pilot robotics-led solutions for customer interaction, service delivery, and assistive banking. High-potential use cases will also be tested in Allied Bank Digital Lounges to evaluate scalability and real-world adoption. The initiative will be guided by a Joint Innovation Steering Group, with expected outcomes including working prototypes, pilot insights, potential joint publications, and deeper industry–academia collaboration.
