Master's Program in “Nanotechnology” also offered in English Interdisciplinary Master’s program in “Nanotechnology” will also be available in English at Leibniz University Hannover starting in the 2026/27 winter semester The term “nanotechnology” refers to the production and use of structures that are smaller than 100 nm in at least one dimension—that is, smaller than one-thousandth the diameter of a human hair! At this scale, things begin to function “differently”; surface effects of materials and quantum mechanical effects play a decisive role. Nanotechnology is a highly interdisciplinary field of science that combines chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. The master’s program in Nanotechnology has been offered at Leibniz University Hannover for 15 years. Starting in the 2026–27 winter semester, the course offerings will be expanded to include English-language elective modules, allowing students to pursue the program not only in German but also in English.
