🌱 Less fertilizer, same yield – an important step towards more resource-efficient agriculture. How can yields be maintained while reducing fertilizer use and lowering emissions at the same time? This is exactly the question KWS set out to answer together with partners – Kverneland Group, SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH, and Fachhochschule Südwestfalen. The results are promising. 👉 A practical field trial in sugarbeet cultivation showed: By applying fertilizer precisely at the seed pellet, nitrogen fertilizer use could be reduced by 25% – without any significant loss in yield. What does this mean in practice? ✅ Nitrogen fertilizer is the main source of emissions in arable farming ✅ Reduced use leads to lower CO₂ emissions – both during field application and fertilizer production Especially in light of increasing sustainability requirements and stricter emissions reporting standards, projects like this make an important contribution to making agriculture more efficient and resource-friendly.
