Freight #logistics accounts for nearly half of all transport-related greenhouse gas emissions, contributing around 8% to global emissions. While the challenge is significant, there are clear ways to reduce the footprint, including better visibility across supply chains, wider use of lower-emission options, and solutions that can scale without disrupting operations. At the Sustainability and Low-Carbon Technology Forum in Shanghai, held alongside the #China Carbon Neutrality Expo, Kuehne+Nagel joined industry leaders to discuss how transport and logistics can advance these efforts. During the discussions, Alan Ni, President of Kuehne+Nagel Greater China, highlighted a growing focus on measures that support decarbonisation in practical ways. Digital tools are improving transparency across supply chains, while Kuehne+Nagel’s Book and Claim solution supports emissions reductions without requiring immediate physical changes to operations. He also emphasised that scaling #decarbonisation depends on broader adoption across the industry, with coordinated action between shippers, carriers, and logistics partners, supported by shared standards and transparent reporting. At Kuehne+Nagel, sustainable logistics remains both a responsibility and a driver of innovation, resilience, and long-term growth.
