Building on a tasting with Lalou Bize-Leroy in Vosne-Romanée, I’ve just published a feature on Domaine Leroy in The Wine Advocate. Few have done more to elevate lesser appellations through innovative viticulture and meticulous, labor-intensive winemaking than Bize-Leroy. Applying the same standards to every parcel in the domaine’s holdings, she has minimized the qualitative distinctions one might otherwise expect across appellations, helping to explain why the differences between the wines are often more subtle than usual. At 94 years of age, Bize-Leroy remains remarkably hands-on. The tasting traversed Burgundy from north to south, with each vineyard represented by a different vintage. The practices now emulated by a growing number of the Côte d’Or’s leading producers—and the story behind each wine—are told in detail in the article. https://lnkd.in/eAqdqmFG
