I've been staring at this post for a while, not quite sure on how to write it, so here it is.. I have accepted an ST1 Ophthalmology training post in NHS Scotland East - my top deanery choice. I also found out that I was ranked as the number 1 candidate nationally across all Ophthalmology applicants this year. That one still doesn't feel real if I'm honest. I won't pretend this was a straight line. There was a lot of self-doubt, many very long nights, and moments when I was definitely beginning to think that this dream of Ophthalmology would never work out for me. So this one means a lot. A huge thank you to the people who showed up for me - mentors who gave me more of their time than I had any right to ask for, colleagues who kept me motivated to keep pushing forward, friends and family who probably heard about Ophthalmology more than they ever wanted to. And to my seniors who let me get involved early, answering my numerous questions, and inspired me to do this properly - I owe you everything. I’m incredibly grateful, excited, and ready for what comes next!
