Project Update | Mississippi River Bridge | Lansing, IA Kraemer crews have reached a major milestone on the historic Mississippi River crossing project in Lansing, Iowa, for the Iowa DOT. On Friday, June 12, a significant step forward was achieved. Steel erection began in October 2025 and has progressed outward from both the Iowa and Wisconsin shores. Crews have extended over 220 feet from the Iowa-side pier and more than 330 feet from the Wisconsin-side pier—leaving a 220-foot section to be installed in a single lift. This 220-foot closure section, weighing approximately 1.8 million pounds, was assembled on barges upriver from the new structure. Friday, June 12, marked the day this section of bridge was floated downriver and successfully hoisted into place. To date, Kraemer crews have erected nearly 11 million pounds of steel—marking a major step toward completing this critical infrastructure for the surrounding communities. Congratulations to the hardworking crews who continue to push this project forward safely. The planning and preparation required for setting this steel have been underway for months—and even years. While this milestone is significant, there is still much work ahead. Crews will continue installing temporary bridge deck falsework, placing rebar, and pouring the concrete bridge deck and driving surface—all in preparation for opening the bridge to local traffic in spring 2027. We are grateful for the many organizations and individuals who partner with us every day to deliver this project safely and successfully. #KraemerNorthAmerica #Kraemerna #KNA #MississippiRiver #LansingIowa #IowaDOT #WisconsinProjects #RiverCrossing #WisDOT #BridgeConstruction #Infrastructure #HeavyCivil #SteelErection #Engineering #Construction
