Project Update | I-39/90/94 Wisconsin River Bridge Project | Portage, WI Kraemer crews have continued hitting major milestones on the westbound river bridge of the I‑39/90/94 Wisconsin River Bridges project for the Wisconsin DOT this year—from completing foundations in March, to removing the final cofferdam and finishing the last of twelve piers in May, to setting the 117th and final girder just last week. Placing the final spans of the 6-foot-tall, 140-foot-long, 143,000-pound prestressed concrete girders over the main channel of the Wisconsin River was no small feat. As always, the entire project team came together to plan and execute the operation seamlessly and, most importantly, safely. Work continues as crews move forward with installing temporary bridge deck falsework, placing rebar, and pouring the remaining deck sections and driving surfaces, all in preparation for opening the bridge to interstate traffic later this summer.
