The ability to use AI well depends not only on our proficiency with the latest tools, but on whether we are able to apply our judgement and lived experience to assess its outputs. On Day 2 of Knowledge Week — part of KPMG and the National Library Board’s (NLB) Read to Lead: Building an AI-Ready Mind initiative — workshop participants learnt to apply the S.U.R.E framework (identify the Source of information, Understand what we are reading, Research and dip deeper, and Evaluate information from various angles). During the session at the KPMG Clubhouse, NLB’s Mervin Ang discussed how AI is shaping the way we engage with information and highlighted actions individuals can take to guard against misinformation risks. Later in the day, the Clubhouse transformed into a space for book speed dating — where book lovers discovered new genres and exchanged their views on new titles they picked up. Participants shared their first impressions of the books and why they decided to either continue with their “date” or move on to a new one, among other topics. Read to Lead: Building an AI-Ready Mind is a year-long initiative to bring reading into the workplace and equip PMETs and business leaders with professional discernment skills. It kicks off with Knowledge Week from 14 to 16 July at Asia Square, the KPMG Clubhouse and the National Library Building.
